Help us improve by filling in a short survey

Give us 5 minutes of your time, and we will give you an improved BIMserver.

To get an overview of the applications, expectations, perceptions, opinions, shortcomings and your own developments of the open source BIMserver.org we created a short survey.
It consists of some 22 questions and should not take longer than 5 min. to fill in. All questions are optional, fill in only as much as you want.
We would very much appreciate your feedback on this project and we are certain that this will help us with regard to future improvements, features and the general direction of this effort.

Any other (informal) feedback is also welcome.
Thank you very much for your time,

The BIMserver.org team

Semantic Web for BIM

Today the thesis of Jakob Beetz came in our mailbox. As some of you might know Jakob is the most important contributor of the BIMserver.org architecture as we use it today.  His book, called “Facilitating distributed collaboration in the AEC/FM sector using Semantic Web Technologies”, gives a clear inside in the future of web based BIM modeling. BIMserver.org is very pleased with this clear statement of Semantic Web usage in the AEC sector. We like this see-through into the future of BIM and fully support the ideas behind it. The development team of BIMserver.org does a lot of research on Semantic Web for productmodelling in the AEC sector. The  Product Modelling Ontology (PMO) is one of the results of this research and development.

We expect that the work on PMO and the work Jakob did will joins forces in the next generation of BIMserver.org software. Thanks to Jakob’s work the future will become reality a bit faster!

Jakob will defend his thesis on June 29th at the University of Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and continue his work in this field for the comming years.
